Ivan has contributed enormously towards, specifically the LED Strategy for Namakwa Region within the Northern Cape, while he was the LED Manager for the Namakwa District from August 2002 until August 2010. He currently provided strategic support and advice to SMME’s in the Namakwa region through his Business Consulting Enterprise, IBG Business Consulting and Support CC. His combination of both commercial and people skills give him the ability to work with many different types of people and he can fit into any team. He is a conscientious and dynamic person who work hard and pays attention to detail. He is flexible, quick to pick up new skills and eager to learn from others. He also have a lot of ideas and enthusiasm.

Lead, direct and manage staff within the department so that they are able to meet their objectives
Develop and implement an Employment Equity plan for the department that is in line with Council’s Employment Equity strategy.
Oversee the training plans of staff so that each staff member within the department has an updated and active training plan.
Monitor and control the budget so that expenditure is in line with Council’s requirements
Prepare and submit reports to the Municipal Manager and relevant political structure so that they are informed of the issues relevant to Local Economic Development
Provide support to the political level so that politicians are advised of relevant issues and are in a position to take informed decisions
Take overall responsibility for the management of the Department so that all Council policies and procedures are adhered to. This includes policies relating to procurement, finance, treasury, regulations
Social and Labour Plan consultations with Mines in Region with IDP as primary source. Monitor and evaluation of Social and Labour plans in partnership with the Department of Mineral Resources.
Gather information and conduct a needs analysis in order to understand the economic issues relevant to the Municipality
Develop an economic development plan that is linked to the integrated development plan of the municipality Communicate the economic development plan so that all stakeholders are aware of the economic development initiatives within the Municipality
Develop policies and by-laws that will govern the economic development within the municipality
Monitor, evaluate and report back to the Municipal Manager on the implementation of the Economic Development Plan so that any deviation and/or unintended consequences can be dealt with as they arise and relevant changes can be made to the following year’s plan.
